About me

Eli Burr

Aspiring Engineer

I’m currently pursuing my B.S. in Computer Engineering at UIC, where my core focus is systems integration—specifically bridging physical hardware with intelligent software. As the Electrical Lead for our SAE Baja team, I apply this constraint-driven mindset to everything from physical vehicle electrical systems to how we structure our engineering workflows. Recently, while planning the vehicle’s electrical subsystem under a strict power budget, my team integrated AI directly into our process as an active research node to evaluate parts, determine optimal wire gauges, and run complex time-based battery calculations. This experience reinforced my approach to problem-solving: treating AI not just as a standalone software tool, but as a highly capable component integrated within a larger, efficient system.

Goals

• Optimized embedded sensor networks on ESP32 platforms to maximize data throughput and power efficiency, bridging prototype telemetry with the rigorous diagnostics required for vehicle automation systems.

• Leading the end-to-end design and system-level validation of vehicle electrical networks as SAE Baja Electrical Lead, ensuring sensor reliability and hardware durability in dynamic, off-road automotive environments.

• Operationalizing AI tooling and Google Career Certificate competencies to streamline hardware validation loops, using automated data analysis to rapidly identify and diagnose sensor faults.
